Clean your tank with thanksFlorence Jornsen
STUDY: Ephesians 5:3-4 AMP But sexual immorality and all [moral] impurity [indecent, offensive behavior] or greed must not even be hinted at among you, as is proper among saints [for as believers our way of life, whether in public or in private, reflects the validity of our faith]. Let there be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse [obscene or vulgar] joking, because such things are not appropriate [for believers]; but instead speak of your thankfulness [to God].
Tank is a storage facility that is installed in homes and industries and channeled to distribute its content to end users. The water storage tank in our homes are usually washed from time to time and treated to enable them supply clean water for consumption. Like wise our spiritual storage needs cleansing to enable it deliver clean resources for the benefits of mankind. It is often said that “garbage in, garbage out. How clean is your tank?
The word tank here is used symbolically to represent your store house of God’s blessings. God will not make delivery into a dirty tank filled with all kinds of immorality and ingratitude as mentioned in the key text above. The blessing of the lord is spiritual and comes into manifestation in the physical through a heart of worship, praise and thanksgiving. (Ephesians 1:3).
Just a day ago my dad was very ill he could not even pick his call. His condition was sympathetic and I was empathic about it. I offered prayers to God on his behalf asking God to heal him. When I woke up the next morning I sat on my keyboard to worship, power holdings wouldn’t let me worship with the keyboard. So I went flat on the floor and worshiped, my husband joined in the worship and I felt burdens that clogged my tank and channels rolled away. In the evening while writing my manuscript, I had a prompting to call home and to God be the glory my dad picked the phone and was testifying and praising God. Thanksgiving and praise is indeed a tank cleaner and filler. Note that the first point of delivery of God’s blessings is in your heart; from where it is distributed to where it is needed (healing, finance, marriage, business, career etc). A thankful heart is one that is ready to receive miracles. Thanksgiving purifies the heart. Thanksgiving is a language of the saints as seen in the scripture above. It should be used instead of profane and vulgar languages. When Thanksgiving proceeds regularly from your mouth, evil will not be heard or seen around you. Ingratitude is seen as sin. A grateful and pure heart shall be full of greatness.
Heavenly father, may I always remain thankful and faithful to you. Amen!
