Isaiah 58:7 ERV
“I want you to share your food with the hungry. I want you to find the poor who don’t have homes and bring them into your own homes. When you see people who have no clothes, give them your clothes! Don’t hide from your relatives when they need help”

In a certain city within the tropics, there lived a God fearing woman by the name Yaudah and her lovely family whose hearts blazes for the love of God. On one of her missions tour, she encountered a young man by the name Edet. Edet had come into the city from a neighbouring village in search for a job in a construction company. On arrival at the city, Edet had lost contact with the contractor who bade him to come and he became stranded, no food, no place to sleep, cash exhausted. You could relate with Edet’s plight.

Fortunately, Edet met Angel Yaudah and they got talking, Edet narrated his plight to her and she ministered the love of Christ to him and prayed the salvation prayer with him. Yaudah, needed to have his contact for the purpose of follow up, in that process she got to know that Edet had slept in a vehicle on the street for two nights and had they not met, that would have meant more nights of sleeping in the street. Yaudah on hearing that was moved with more compassion for him. She then invited him to be in Church that evening.

Edet was among the first set of persons to be in church that fateful evening. At the close of the service, Yaudah introduced him to her husband who is the Senior Pastor of the church. Her family agreed to take him home for the night. They gave him water to wash himself, food to eat and by the break of day they supported him with transport to return to his village. Edet was very grateful for everything.

Do you think that Yaudah, did the right thing to have invited a stranger into her home for the night? What if Edet was an armed robber or a cultist, wouldn’t that be a risk? What do you think HOSPITALITY is and how should we demonstrate it as lovers of God? Feel free to share your thoughts with me. I might be the Yaudah in the story and there are some more Edets in the street. What should we do about them?

Hebrews 13:2 says “do not forget to entertain strangers, for some have entertained angels unaware”

I pray for you that you will not miss your encounter with angels. May God help you to be hospitable. Amen!

Hospitality raises the hospitalized to become hospitable.
