Making a differenceFlorence Jornsen
Jude 1:22-23 KJV “And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”
Abraham’s compassionate intercession made the difference in Lot’s life. Compassion is a differentiator. When God thought to bring judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah, He remembered Lot and his family and so, He sent an Angel to isolate Lot from the fire of destruction. Prior to this time Abraham had made intercession for Lot. God also had compassion on Noah and his family, He isolated and preserved them in the ark until the flood was over.
We have a mission to rescue sinners from sin, to pull them out of fire, to do that effectively, we must have compassion for the sinners and hate sin with passion. We must not partake in their sins, we must make the difference by being gentle on the sinners but hard on sin.
Jesus had compassion on the straying multitude, they were like sheep without shepherd. (Matthew 9:36) So He became the shepherd and Bishop of their souls. (1 Peter 2:25) He lead them to where they could find green pastures. Jesus would not loose anyone of His sheep. He will raise them up on the last day. (John 6:40) Are you one of His sheep? Then respond to His compassion with your passion. Heed His voice and follow Him. He will distinguish you from the crowd. Correcting people from the error of their way is making a difference. God wants you to make a difference in someone’s life today. Open up your bowel of compassion and reach out in the name of Jesus.
Heavenly father, give me a compassionate heart, so I can actually make the difference in someone’s life today. Amen!
